Academy of Whole Learning opened its doors in Minnetonka in 2017, to welcome more students after moving from its St. Louis Park location, which originally opened in 2003. “We are celebrating our 15th anniversary,” head of school Wyayn Rasmussen says.

Every year, Lake Minnetonka Magazine accepts photography submissions from the community for our annual Lens on Lake Minnetonka photo contest. The photos are submitted in five categories: Activities & Events; People & Families; Pets; Wildlife & Nature; and City Landmarks.

Minnesotans are known for their fierce love of the state and its culture, but few cities inspire as much loyalty and passion as the ones around our beautiful Lake Minnetonka.

This summer, local photographer Jim Douglas captured the spirit of Excelsior’s Firecracker Run, an annual Fourth of July tradition that’s been around for more than 40 years.

This purrfect black-and-white smile belongs to Moana of Motunui, a foster kitten from the Carver Scott Humane Society.

Late Wayzata police officer Bill Matthews with his son Wyatt and wife Shawn.

Officer Bill Mathews was tragically hit and killed by a distracted driver in September 2017.
