It’s fertile ground in this part of the country—even musically speaking. “Minnesota is the choral capital of the country; some say the world,” says Jere Lantz, director of the Minnetonka Choral Society (MCS) since 1993.

 

On a typical day at Minnetonka High School, the Writing Center is abuzz with activity well before classes even start. As early as 7 a.m., students flock to the room to discuss their latest written work with trained coaches.

 

The most important skill that Roxanne Heaton has developed in her 18 years as executive director of the Minnetonka Center for the Arts is flexibility.

 

Youngsters who dream of wowing crowds with their musical prowess are in luck—Minnetonka Music is here to teach them how to rock. The Deephaven store is home to the Excelsior Rock Club, which is specifically geared toward kids ages 8 to18.

 

The average couple has trouble in their relationship for six years before seeking help, says Jen Elmquist, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Excelsior.

 

Board-gamers and coffee lovers alike have a new haven at the recently opened Lodestone Coffee and Games in Minnetonka.

 

This past spring break, I had the opportunity to take the trip of a lifetime: a 10-day trip to Spain. I had been preparing for a trip like this since I started Spanish Immersion in kindergarten.
