Sarah Bakkum likes to take her family out for dinner. Like many parents, she and her husband have always enjoyed going out to eat—no prep work, no dishes to wash and tasty food. But when she had kids, she found that going out became much more of an ordeal.

On August 15, grab your canoe, kayak or stand-up paddle board and head to Excelsior Beach Park for the second annual Big Island and Back paddle event, presented by Excelsior Brewing Co.

Known as one of the top Celtic festivals in America, the annual Irish Fair of Minnesota at Harriet Island offers a three-day celebration of Saint Paul’s rich Irish heritage, regardless of how Irish you may be.

In March 1986, Red Owl Country Store in White Bear Lake was the first location to be converted to a Kowalski’s Market. Twenty-nine years later, there are nine Kowalski’s markets in the Twin Cities area.

As temperatures rise and we begin dipping our toes in the lakes, the last thing anyone wants to think about is hairstyling. Time spent in front of a mirror is much less appealing than a walk or a dip in Lake Minnetonka.
