The Tour de Tonka is back for its ninth year, celebrating cycling and community with more than 2,500 participants. No one is too young or too old to join in the ride. Riders can choose from a 16-, 26-, 44-, 52- or 100-mile ride around the lake and surrounding areas. Ride begins and ends at Minnetonka High School. This year the DNR is celebrating Arbor Day and Arbor Month by encouraging families to play in natural settings such as your backyard, a nearby woodlot, or forested area.

The 2014 State Arbor Month Celebration will be at Oak Hill Park in St. Louis Park. The event will give families a chance to play with nature, while watching some of the best tree climbers in the state compete at the Minnesota Tree Climbing Championship.

Stop by Excelsior Commons Park this Memorial Day to support local athletes as they complete a grueling fitness challenge, to benefit the Lone Survivor Foundation.
