Splat-tacular Art Class

Unleash your child’s creative side without the mess with this class through the Glen Lake Activity Center. Each artist-to-be will get a real canvas board and plenty of paint; they can bring the enthusiasm. Please bring a nut-free snack and drink, and get ready to bring home a real masterpiece. Puppy Love Art Class

When the puppy craze strikes, it strikes hard. Unleash your child’s love of dogs with this art class focused on canine appreciation. The class will begin with a reading from a book about puppies to get artists in the right mindset. Then students will create a plush puppy, complete with its own special collar and dog house. The World We Share

Kids can learn about the earth, from the bottom of the ocean to the top of the sky. Centered on hands-on learning, this class will teach students all about the natural world. Subjects include geology, weather patterns, the four seasons and their effect on the earth’s inhabitants, erosion and even volcanic eruptions. Indulge your child’s curiosity and inspire scientific inquiry into the natural world. Ages 3½ to 6. $40. Read more about The World We Share

National Train Day

Celebrate National Train Day with the Twin City Model Railroad Museum. Patricipate in a childrens coloring contest, and all ages photography contest. See Amtrak trains on the layouts! ART IN THE HOLLOW: A hidden urban wonderland comes alive with Artists in Action!

Swede Hollow Park ~ just a mile from downtown St. Paul ~ feels 100 years away.

This, the first neighborhood in St. Paul’s immigrant history, lies languorously all spring waiting to bloom in June with open air artists, performers and a public sculpture contest.  Our tradition of nurturing and showcasing local talent continues with performances and demonstrations/sales and plein air artists creating in the park representing past and current cultural communities. Family Day at the Ordway Center for Performing Arts

Spark a love of the arts in your child with a day full of live music and opportunities for your toddlers and grade school children to explore different instruments. The day also includes arts and crafts, dance lessons and a menu of other activities—fun for the whole brood. Free. 9 a.m.–noon. Kids’ Fest

There’s good reason for this event to be called Kids’ Fest: Anything and everything a kid could want out of a party is here! There are the classics like face-painting, a magic show and bingo, and then there are winter fun activities that include snowshoeing, dog sled rides and a bonfire with s’mores. All ages. Free.
