Minnetonka Summer Festival

Grab your neighbors and join other lake-area residents at this summer bash. The event hosts many annual favorites such as the 8K, adult/child golf tournament, a petting zoo, open skating, a carnival and more. The evening will conclude with music and fireworks on the Civic Center grounds. Bring some lawn chairs and blankets and camp out for the whole day, or get active and join in on some of the athletic fun. Laura Ingalls Adventures Camp

Your child can relive the simpler days of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s time. The day will be full of reading from the books, then doing the things she describes, including making bread and butter, learning jigs, sewing, weaving and other pioneer activities. Operation Kidsafe Child Safety Event

Join Delmonico Dance, local law enforcement, first responders and Operation Kidsafe for a free child safety fair. There will be an ice cream truck for the kids.  Parents will receive a lifetime record of their child's digital fingerprints and a form that is ready to hand to law enforcement in an emergency, as well as valuable safety tips. Excelsior Girl's Night Out Opening Night

The first Excelsior Girl's Night Out of the season kicks off in downtown Excelsior on Thursday June 5.This season Excelsior Girl's Night Out is partnering with Go Red For Women and the American Heart Association. Come out opening night for exclusive Girl's Night Out store and restaurant specials.  Enjoy live music right on Water St. Meet the women of the Excelsior Fire Department who will be doing hands only CPR demos.  Tour the famous Mammo-a-go-go Mammogram bus or get a mammogram. Raptor Camp

Give your children a week of nature and excitement at this camp all about birds. Campers will be able to observe feeding, banding, hunting and more as they get to know the birds of the Lowry Nature Center. They will also learn about bird anatomy and prey. It’s not all learning though, as campers will explore and play around the nature center all week long. State Arbor Month Celebration and Minnesota Tree Climbing Championships

This year the DNR is celebrating Arbor Day and Arbor Month by encouraging families to play in natural settings such as your backyard, a nearby woodlot, or forested area.

The 2014 State Arbor Month Celebration will be at Oak Hill Park in St. Louis Park. The event will give families a chance to play with nature, while watching some of the best tree climbers in the state compete at the Minnesota Tree Climbing Championship.

Summer Arts Camp

The Minnetonka Center for the Arts presents this summer-long day camp program, which offers half-day or full-day programs for children ages 5 to 15. Camps are flexible to fit your family’s schedule and will teach children a variety of artistic skills including drawing, animation, painting, sculpting, theater and knitting.
