Wayzata Chilly Open

The 37th annual Wayzata Chilly Open returns in full force this year on February 11 and 12 on frozen Wayzata Bay. The annual event is a fundraiser for the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce.

The Chilly Open is known for its frozen golf tournament, which has three nine-hole courses. Hundreds of people flock to the bay to compete in the event with golf clubs, hockey sticks, baseball bats or whatever else they can find to help them make an elusive hole in one. A little snow and ice won’t stop Minnesotans from getting together, but, it goes without saying, something else might. The Wayzata Chilly Open might look different this year, but Brooke Beyer, director of community events and marketing at the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce, and her team hope that this year’s event will warm everyone’s spirits.
