Learn about Indo-Islamic papermaking and its role in the history of papermaking.

We will cover the papermaking process, and surface finishing techniques like dyeing, sizing, and burnishing on traditionally-made papers. Detailed handouts will be emailed to everyone about the process, the history as well as supplies and materials should you wish to pursue this style of papermaking at home; along with readings ro further your knowledge of the craft. Everyone will receive a sample of the paper made during the session.

$50 (10% discount for MCBA members).
$25 for BIPOC participants* (10% discount for MCBA members)

*We are offering a reduced rate to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) participants to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts. For individuals to whom this does not apply, register at the rate listed first and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make reduced rates available.
