Every region of the world abounds in music that seems to grow from its soil. We'll explore the wonderful differences, and astonishing similarities, of folk music from throughout the globe. We'll witness how the spirit of people shines through their homegrown music, whether from Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America or home in the U. S. A. 

 It's often the less urbanized, more traditional cultures that have best preserved their folk heritage, so we'll offer songs from Israel, Latvia, Hungary, Mexico, Appalachia, the Caribbean, and Syria, among many others. And we'll explore the remarkable range of emotions and styles in that richest of American folk traditions, the spiritual.  

This is music created at home to lift spirits and help life go better. That's what we hope to do for everyone who sings and hears it.
