One Voice Mixed Chorus presents Resistance and Resilience on June 29 and 30 at the Ordway Concert Hall. Through song and spoken word the concert portrays the strength of spirit and toughness that has been so fundamental to the struggle for human rights in the LGBTQ+ and African American communities. The concert explores the power of song in both the African American and LGBTQ+ struggles for human rights by portraying the strength of spirit and toughness that has been so fundamental to these two marginalized communities. Guest conductor Tesfa Wondemagegnehu pairs the compelling music of Quiet No More , a new commission about the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, with one of America’s first resistant musical art forms, the Negro Spiritual.
