The Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society (ELMHS) dives a little deeper into local history with its October “Tapping History” event.
Recent surveys have confirmed the existence of more than 35 maritime wrecks on the bottom of Lake Minnetonka. Archaeologists and historians Ann Merriman and Christopher Olson, co-founders of Maritime Heritage Minnesota, will describe the most prominent of these wrecks, share underwater photos and footage, and discuss the significance of the wrecks to Minnesota's maritime heritage.
