In recognition of its 50th anniversary, the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society is offering a series of four summer history cruises aboard the "Lady of the Lake" exploring Lake Minnetonka from its earliest known history to the year the Society was founded, 1972. The third cruise, “In the Wake of Lake Minnetonka’s Express Boats” with Tom McCarthy will be held on Monday, August 8 at 6:00 pm. Since 1975 the weekend following Labor Day in Wayzata has been dedicated to honoring James J. Hill, Minnesota historic figure and once owner of the Great Northern Railroad Company. Hill, builder of the present train depot in 1906, contributed significantly to transform Wayzata into the beautiful tourist location and friendly community we know today. James J. Bach to Rock, America’s music school for students of all ages, is opening its newest school in Coon Rapids. The community is invited to the free grand opening. If you or your children are into music, singing or love playing a particular instrument, come check out our school. Take a tour, enjoy a free music lesson, learn about individual lessons and group classes, or try out free toddler “Mommy and Me” classes. Plus you can enter prize drawings and giveaways, check out the recording studio and enjoy performances by instructors. It will be a fun and music-filled celebration for all!
