In my book, the ultimate outdoor summer shindig has four main ingredients. I want to try a variety of different food, savor some sips of wine, veg out to some relaxing music, and—this is a big one—do all that in a green, fertile, picturesque landscape. Is that too much to ask for?

Apparently not. Thanks to the Toast & Taste party at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (3765 Arboretum Drive, Chaska), we’ll be able to enjoy all those features on the evening of July 28.

Good taste tends to be an attractive force in partnerships. So it shouldn’t come as any surprise that the Art Leadership Program and BMW will collaborate to curate a series of art exhibitions within the next year. Suzanne Carnes’ lifelong dream was to see her work on display in a gallery show. While an aggressive form of cancer prevented her from seeing that dream come to fruition, her family honored her memory with a posthumous show at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts. The exhibit ends this Thursday, June 30, with a closing reception in honor of the late artist. Free and open to the public. 6 –8 p.m. Minnetonka Center for the Arts, 2240 N. Shore Dr., Minnetonka; 952.473.7361, ext. 16; minnetonkaarts.org
