Whether you’re German, of German heritage or a lover of German fare, you won’t want to miss the free Oktoberfest celebration at the Southshore Community Center on October 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. Dress your family in their finest lederhosen and polka on over!
Chef Connie Blanchard will create all kinds of German dishes for the event, including spaetzle, brats, sauerkraut, German meatballs and giant pretzels. Southshore director Kristi Anderson says Blanchard always creates an amazing array of food.
Adults can sample various beers and wines at a free tasting, courtesy of Excelsior Brewing Company and The Cellars Wine & Spirits. Anderson says the beer and wine are not necessarily German but are usually unique fall options. Kids will enjoy activities such as painting pumpkins, filling gloves with popcorn and jumping in a giant inflatable. Local bands and accordion players are set to perform as well.
