This month, pack up the kids and head out to Minnetrista for Gale Woods Farm’s annual breakfast on the farm event. The farm, part of the Three Rivers Park District, is home to a gaggle of friendly animals—cows, sheep, chickens, turkeys and more—and lots of other things to see and do.

The event “is an annual tradition for many families, and 2019 will be the 16th year of this event,” says Gale Woods farm supervisor Tim Reese. “The good old-fashioned country breakfast features products from Gale Woods and other local farms, along with live music and a chance to meet the farm animals and explore the gardens.” Check out the barn and the animal pastures, walk down to the lake, or explore the large teaching garden, where young aspiring farmers can learn about growing vegetables, fruit and other plants in our Minnesota climate.
