The 10,000 Lakes Concours d’Elegance is returning to Excelsior, Minn. for the summer of 2017 and exciting additions are being made as the event moves into its fifth year.
The date of the 2017 event is moving from what has historically been the first weekend in June, to Sunday, July 30 which will allow exhibitors additional time to prepare their historic and valuable cars, boats and motorcycles for the show following winter storage. Adult tickets will be $25 per person and only 4,000 tickets will be sold. Children 12 and under and active military members are free with ID. Advance presale tickets are $20 and are available online now at the website.
The main attraction of the show will continue to expand as the selection committee will be accepting cars, boats and motorcycles produced up to the year 1980. Previously, the cut-off year was 1972. Specialty classes including military vehicles, European sports cars and service vehicles will continue to grow and the show field will be overflowing with an interactive children’s area and a variety of live music and entertainment throughout the day. The Concours is also planning to give guests the opportunities of riding in vintage automobiles and cruising around Excelsior Bay aboard a historic wooden boat.
When planning the first Concours in 2013, the Excelsior Commons was selected as the perfect venue to share Minnesota’s natural beauty and charm; knowing that the event had the potential to outgrow the space. Now, in the event’s fifth year, rather than moving the show to a larger venue, plans to install temporary docks to display the antique boats on the water are in place, creating additional room for activities, experiences and a greater variety of antique cars, boats and motorcycles.
“Our goal has always been to create an event that is not only successful in raising money for charity, but one that gives ticket holders an experience the moment they walk through the gate until the second they leave.” said J. Marie Fieger, Producer of the 10,000 Lakes Concours d’Elegance. “We believe that the changes we will be making for our fifth year will give ticket holders an all-encompassing experience.”
Even with all of the changes, much of what has enabled the event to grow and thrive in the past years will remain the same including displays of original art, delicious food, wine and beer, on-site retail vendors, and live performances by professional musicians which will add up to an unforgettable summer experience on the shores of Lake Minnetonka.
Proceeds from the 5th Annual Concours d’Elegance will benefit Bridging, a nonprofit organization serving the greater Twin Cities that provides donated furniture and household goods to families and individuals transitioning out of homelessness and poverty.
