Literary Love

Carol Connolly’s Readings by Writers series celebrates local literature.

For more than 16 years, Saint Paul’s first poet laureate, Carol Connolly, has been providing a platform at the University Club of St. Paul for local poets and writers to share their work. Past contributors have included Heid Erdrich, Tom Cassidy, Ted King and Joyce Sutphen. Held on the third Tuesday of each month beginning at 7:30 p.m., this event is free and open to the public. Part of the event’s tradition is to pass a hat to garner donations for the Saint Paul Almanac, a yearly publication featuring writing by several poets, writers and others.

In March, Readings by Writers offers an annual tip of the hat to the Irish and is one of the series’ most popular programs of the year. March 15, 7:30 p.m., University Club of St. Paul, 420 Summit Ave.
