In March 2009, Sholom Catering began providing kosher food services to the Sholom East Senior Residence, but they soon became more than a nursing home business. The company launched its off-site catering business in January 2012. “We realized there was a greater need in the area,” says Jacques Philippon, director of nutrition and executive chef.
Friday night Shabbat meals are their most popular orders, starting with a matzo ball soup, followed by chicken or brisket, then potato knish or latke and challah bread. According to Philippon, this dinner can also be modified for each family.
Jamie Maddeaux, vice president of sales and marketing, says they also have many non-Jewish customers who need catering and have sampled Shalom Catering’s food at events or gatherings. Orders can be placed online or by phone.
