When the Gold Nugget Tavern and Grille does a “Beer Dinner,” they do more than just pair their beer with food: They incorporate it into just about everything. According to general manager Michael Gentile, chefs take four to five beers from a select distributor and pair them with a four- to five-course meal.
Gentile says the idea for beer dinners came from seeing other restaurants host dinners using other types of alcohol such as whiskey. As a tavern owner, he decided beer seemed like the logical choice for the Gold Nugget. And if you think only certain types of food can be cooked with beer, think again—the theme is never the same, ranging from Scandinavian to South American.
