Excelsior Brewing Company Expansion

Excelsior Brewing Co. expands to acommodate lake-area demand for great brews

In May 2014, Excelsior Brewing Co. celebrated Memorial Day weekend with food, trucks, bands and lots of beer. Located in downtown Excelsior, the brewery opened its $1.4 million expansion, including an outdoor patio, indoor stage, new taproom and bottling line that produces six-packs. The company is now able to produce 8,500 barrels rather than its previous 1,500, which will help meet the growing demand for its products.

The open space where the brewery is located (which holds about 80 people) maintains the industrial feel of its previous occupant--an old Ford dealership--but adds its own beachy, Lake-Minnetonka vibe. Jennifer Johnson, senior brand manager, loves the influence the brewery has had on the community, and says that people often stop in just to say hi.

Excelsior Brewery hours have expanded. The brewery is now open Wednesdays 4-10 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 4-11 p.m., and Saturdays 12-11 p.m.
