Cathy Ryan is the winner of the 2022 Minnesota Book Artist Award, a biennial award presented as part of the Minnesota Book Awards with Minnesota Center for Book Arts that recognizes a Minnesota book artist or group for excellence of a new artistic work.

Cathy will give an artist talk detailing the processes and techniques she used to create Chronicle, a screen- and letterpress-printed artist's book about the personal and collective experience of 2020, including the stark contrast between the reassuring cycles of nature and the uncertainty of political turmoil amid a worldwide health crisis. She will also contextualize how Chronicle fits into her artistic process as a whole, touching on the themes and ideas that drive her work.
