JOHN HIATT TO PERFORM AT

THE RETREAT’S OCTOBER 8
IMAGINE GALA

Diana Pierce - Emcee

Event will honor former Rep. Jim Ramstad and will also be attended by
Mayor Hodges and Mayor Wilcox.

Grammy-nominated songwriter and musician John
Hiatt, whose distinguished career spans more than 40 years, will perform and
give the keynote address at the Imagine Gala, a benefit for The Retreat, on
Saturday, October 8 at the Metropolitan Ballroom in Minneapolis.

The Retreat, a not-for-profit organization
based in Wayzata, Minn., operates a model recovery program that has served more
than 19,000 individuals
and families affected by alcohol and drug dependency during the past 19 years.
Proceeds from the gala will help those who struggle with addiction.

At the gala, The Retreat also will honor
Former Congressman Jim Ramstad with the George Mann “Spirit of Community
Award.”  Congressman
Ramstad was chief co-sponsor of the landmark Mental
Health and Addiction Treatment Parity Act which
became law in 2008. Ramstad was named “Legislator of the Year” by the National
Association of Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Counselors in 1998, by the
National Mental Health Association in 1999 and by the National Association of
Police Organizations in 1997 and 2000.

Thirty-five years after the release of his first album, keynote
speaker/performer Hiatt remains one of America’s most respected and influential
singer-songwriters.  His songs have been covered by artists as diverse as
Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt (“Thing Called Love”), Emmylou Harris, Ronnie Milsap,
Iggy Pop and Rosanne Cash (the #1 country hit, “The Way We Make A Broken
Heart”).  Hiatt earned a Grammy
nomination for his album Crossing Muddy Waters. His most recent release
is 2014’s critically-acclaimed Terms of My Surrender.

As the cost of health care continues to
increase at an alarming rate, The Retreat offers programs and services that
make recovery affordable and accessible to those in need. “We believe that if
we provide a dignified, safe and supportive environment, accurate information
about the problem and the solution, and a solid bridge to the principles of
Alcoholics Anonymous, people will recover,” said John Curtiss, president/CEO of
The Retreat.

Since its
inception, The Retreat has distributed more than $3 million in scholarship
support to those who lack the ability to pay for their care. A portion of the
funds raised at the gala will go toward scholarship support for those who lack the
ability to pay for their care.

The Gala
will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on October 8. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. For
