Spark up this year’s Fourth of July celebrations.

The Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce is preparing to celebrate its 134th annual Independence Day celebration with fireworks, music and more on July 4.

Take part this year’s Firecracker Run for a chance to win an Invicta fitness watch, gift cards and more. The event starts at Excelsior Elementary School and ends in the Excelsior Commons with options to choose between 1-mile run, 5K and 10K. Spectators can watch the race begin at 7:30 a.m.

Visit Excelsior’s Commons Park along the shore of Lake Minnetonka to watch the city’s beloved fireworks show, which is planned to begin around dusk.

Wayzata is set to host festivities, too. From the Flying Pancake Breakfast to the city’s much-anticipated annual Fourth of July parade, there’s plenty of fun to be found around town. The breakfast (pancakes, breakfast sausage, coffee and beverages) will be served from 8 a.m. to noon on July 4 at the Wayzata Depot Gardens with appearances by Revolutionary War actors and actresses from the Lake Minnetonka Society of the Children of the American Revolution.

After breakfast, be sure to stop by at 10 a.m. at the corner of Broadway Avenue and Park Street for Wayzata’s annual Independence Day Parade. Enjoy free balloons, popsicles, lemonade and face painting.
