Minnetonka is getting ready to celebrate its musically inclined youth at this month’s Young People’s Concerts put on by the Minnetonka Symphony Orchestra (MSO).
The concerts feature Clara Schubilske, the winner of the Music Association of Minnetonka’s Young Artists Music Competition, which was held in November. Clara is a violinist and a senior at Mounds View High School; she won a $500 prize and the opportunity to be featured in two performances this month. (A second-place and third-place musician were also selected.)
The Young Artists Music Competition is for high school juniors and seniors who prepare a movement from a concerto for their instrument or voice. Students perform in front of three judges in a blind judging process.
This month’s Young People’s Concerts are geared toward school and homeschool groups, along with other families and community members, who’d like to attend an entertaining and educational performance. The concerts are held at local venues; tickets can be purchased online.
