Dance to the rhythms of Saint Paul’s multi-cultural music scene with Nine Nights of Music.

Nine Nights of Music, a free outdoor concert series that highlights Saint Paul’s vibrant music community, returns this summer for its 19th season. Every Tuesday night in July and August, a different musical group will perform live on the lawn at the Minnesota History Center, which also offers free admission year-round on Tuesdays from 5 to 8 p.m.

“Our goal is to represent a diversity of musical styles and cultures,” says Rachel Abbott, a Minnesota Historical Society community engagement specialist. “It’s a big tradition for a lot of Saint Paul families.”

From 6:30 to 7 p.m., instructors from Tapestry Folkdance Center will provide free dance lessons at the History Center, followed by the chance to show off your new moves during the concert from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Divas Through the Decades will kick off the series on July 5 with a musical tribute to female pop vocalists, followed by Rondo Night with Bruce Henry and Friends performing infectious R&B and soul standards on July 12 and Americana group Lush Country with Prudence Johnson and Dan Chouinard on July 19. July 26 is ADA Night, with classic rock band Tamarak hosting a celebration of the 26th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

With August performers ranging from a mariachi band to a Scandinavian dance group, Nine Nights of Music truly offers “a little something for everybody,” says Abbott.

All ages. Free. 6:30–8:30 p.m. Minnesota History Center.
