It’s hard to believe that Jen Scheffler didn’t start out making jewelry. Originally interested in photography, she had a love of all things vintage that led her to explore reworking antique jewelry.
Initially, Scheffler showed her jewelry exclusively at Mosaic Alley, a boutique, but then began a wholesale account with Bachman’s and started to put together collections. These collections now appear at a number of prestigious boutiques in the area, and Scheffler travels the world hand selecting crystals and natural stones for her line, realia by jen.
She points out that many people avoid experimenting with style, often because they don’t have the confidence to try something a little daring. “I tell everyone, ‘Just try it,’” Scheffler says. “In this way, I see my role as not only a designer, but as a fashion educator.”
