Life Could Be a Dream hits the Old Log Theatre stage through February 17. This musical is comprised of oldie hits: “Fools Fall in Love,” “Earth Angel,” “Unchained Melody” and more. Set in a high school in the ’60s, the show tells the tale of an aspiring music group and their quest for stardom. Life Could Be a Dream won the LA Drama Critics Circle Award for best musical in 2011. All ages. Showtimes and prices vary. Old Log Theatre.

Based on a true story, Master Class is about Maria Callas, a renowned opera diva teaching a course at Juilliard. Callas reflects on her own life, both the triumph and the tumult. The talented teens at Minnetonka High School mount this as a one-act, and they will be competing in the Minnesota State High School League One Act Competition. Master Class won the Tony for best play in 1996. All ages. Free. February 2, 7 p.m. Minnetonka Theatre.

Leo Lionni’s classic storybook Frederick is re-imagined in this family-friendly performance at Stages Theatre Company. Frederick, which runs from January 19 to February 19, tells the tale of the title character, a little mouse with a penchant for cheering up his fellow mice. The book is a winner of the Caldecott Award, and the play is sure to be a hit, too. All ages. Showtimes and prices vary. Stages Theatre Company.
