Ensure that no senior goes hungry by volunteering your time—and your car or truck—as a driver for the Western Communities Action Network’s (WeCAN) Meals on Wheels program.
Meals on Wheels is the largest community-based senior nutrition program in the country. Active in all 50 states, the organization provides more than 1 million meals to seniors in need each day. While some programs serve meals at centralized locations like senior centers, WeCAN delivers meals directly to the homes of seniors with limited mobility.
As a driver, you would deliver lunches to seniors in Mound and its neighboring communities. Driving shifts are available one day per week, Monday through Friday. The shift begins at 10:30 a.m. and is typically done in one hour. There is also a need for substitute drivers who fill in for regular drivers out sick or on vacation.
To apply, visit wecan-help.org, and click on the Volunteering tab. At the bottom of the page, you’ll find a link to the Meals on Wheels Driver Application form. Completed forms can be e-mailed to mealsonwheels@wecan-help.org.
