Distressed wood floors, comfy leather seats and an open layout greet you when you enter Pique Travel Design, and there is not a brochure in sight. It’s travel done differently.
Pique was opened in March 2013 by Excelsior resident Jim Bendt. What sets it apart is that instead of pushing “one-size-fits-all” vacation packages, Pique seeks to individualize travel plans for each client. Bendt and his staff provide community members with resources for checking items off their bucket lists.
The company offers one-on-one travel consulting as well as an extensive travel library that clients can peruse when looking for potential vacation spots.
“We operate much like a professional services company rather than a retail travel agency,” says Bendt. “There are no brochure racks. Instead we design custom trips, tailored to the client’s interests and desires.” Pique works mainly with international travel, as well as cruises and Disney vacations.
