It’s OK to be shady. The Bradleys say that “most porches in Minnesota are built to create a shade environment.” Read labels closely when selecting shade-friendly plants like ferns, ivy and coleus.
Get creative with containers. Experiment with eugenia topiaries, which come in a variety of shapes and bring height and interest to potted plants. Hanging baskets and planted chandeliers are a fun addition.
