The Sitting Room, an interior design firm that has called Second Street in Excelsior home for the past five years, opened a second location in November, right around the corner from its original spot.
“It felt like we were missing out on the traffic on Water Street,” explains owner Kate Regan. “We were overlooked being around the corner.”
Regan is planning to use the original studio as a behind-the-scenes interior design studio with a couple of vignettes, fabric resources, a rug gallery and a spot where clients can meet with designers. The new space is primarily a design boutique.
Regan says that the additional location has nearly quadrupled the amount of traffic they get. “It’s been incredible. We’re able to be a part of the thriving retail business that’s happening in Excelsior.”
