Ross Sveback’s Success with Soaps

How St. Louis Park’s Ross Sveback turned his passion into profit.
Ross Svebeck's Soaps

Owning a mortgage company as the economy tanked may not look like the beginning of success and opportunity, but it was for Ross Sveback. To occupy his time while unemployed, the St. Louis Park resident began blogging about things he enjoyed. “I’d make something for myself and other people liked it,” he says.

One item Sveback couldn’t locate was handmade “guy” soap that wouldn’t make him “smell like a flower,” he jokes. After researching and watching YouTube videos, Sveback created 17 different LUX handmade soaps, each one wrapped in handmade paper. While some scents are gender specific, most are neutral.

Full bars ($16) last one person about two months. Smaller bars ($5) are about 1/4 the size and last a few weeks. LUX Soaps are available at Fleurish in Wayzata and La Petite Parfumerie in Excelsior.
