On May 17, 2014, more than 320 Orono parents and supporters gathered in their best Derby-inspired outfits and hats at the Sheraton West for the Orono Derby Race for Excellence event. More than $225,000 was raised for the Orono Foundation for Education, which benefits Orono schools.
