Downtown Excelsior’s stretch of beautiful shop windows just got a lot more colorful thanks to new boutique Water on Water. Owner Nessa Sanders was running her stationery business in Portland, Ore., when she discovered the retail space had opened on Water Street—halfway across the country.
A Portland native, Sanders persuaded her family to make the move to Excelsior, where she opened Water on Water in July. Sanders says she had already been planning a move to Minnesota and had been looking for retail space in Excelsior, so the timing was good.
From boots and jewelry to handcrafted custom stationery, Water on Water offers a wide selection of gifts and accessories. “Scarves are one of our most popular items, but what really draws people in is our stationery,” says Sanders. “We print custom stationery and invitations in our store on our old letterpress that dates back to 1885. It’s what makes Water on Water so unique.”
