Learn about zinfandel.

For May, I’ve picked a terrific California zinfandel to kick off the grilling season. Klinker Brick Winery in Lodi, California makes a shining example of this grape varietal. Fun trivia: Ainfandel is grown around the globe, and called by different names. The zinfandel clone we know however, is only planted in California. If you’re ever drinking zinfandel, you know you are drinking a California wine. Back to Klinker Brick. This winery is still family owned, and creating wine from some very old vines, up to 120 years old. What you can expect is what a good zinfandel should taste like: loads of brambly berry fruit, a touch of American oak, a healthy ABV, and a rich array of spices. $19.99.
