Beyond the contents of Legally Blonde and various John Grisham novels, the average person might not know much about the day-to-day life and work at a law firm. “I do hear from non-clients from time to time about how attorneys ‘are only interested in making money’,” says Jim Robin, a partner at Wayzata Law Group. Of course, Robin says, that’s not true. He and his colleagues do their best to dispel some other myths about the law profession, too.
Wayzata Law Group is primarily focused on business law, but also provides family law, white-collar criminal defense, and general civil and commercial real estate representation to corporate clients and the community. The firm uses the words “Listen. Think. Advocate. Guide” to guide their work every day.
Robin says, “Most of my clients I’ve worked with for many years, so they’re familiar with me and how we can best work together.” And he admits that a few clichés about lawyers can ring a little true. “We can sometimes be overprotective of clients and sometimes try too hard to eliminate all risk,” he says.
Of all the reasons that Robin enjoys working in the Wayzata area, there’s one that many Twin Cities residents can appreciate: “No need to trek through rush hour traffic on I-394.”
