The Long Goodbye

Relinquishing the Lake Minnetonka reins I’ve held for the past three-plus years.

I hate to use that clichéd phrase, but it sums up the situation so well: All good things must come to an end.

For those of you I don’t communicate with personally, you’re probably unaware of the fact that I relocated to Boston at the end of March. That’s right—I’ve been editing the magazine remotely for the past month-plus, and will continue to do so for a couple more. The tentative plan is for me to pass the torch this summer, so I’m incredibly grateful for the flexibility afforded to me to slowly transition out of a role I’ve loved with all my heart.

Lake Minnetonka Magazine is the first publication I’ve ever been “in charge of” as editor. When I was hired back in February 2010, I was scared out of my mind that I’d mess something up, but my boss, managing editor Laura Haraldson, assured me that wouldn’t be the case. It’s under her insight and guidance that I’ve flourished in the role and come to love the magazine, the area and most of all, you—our dear readers—who help generate that content I so enjoy putting within our glossy pages.

With my impending departure, we are looking to fill the role with a talented individual with a passion for the lake area and producing quality, engaging content month after month. If you think that’s you, or know someone who may be perfect, please check out the job description. While I won’t be able to shake my replacement’s hand personally, I look forward to sharing my institutional knowledge to set them up for complete success—and maybe sending them a virtual hug or two. It’s the least I can do for the person taking my baby into the future.

You’ll see my sign-off in print this fall, but I want to thank you all in advance for years of amazing memories. I’ll keep them with me forever.
