This holiday season, Chuck & Don’s Pet Food Outlet will provide pet owners with one more thing to be thankful about. On November 23 from 7 to 9 a.m., they’ll host their second annual Grateful & Giving Back event.
For every person that stops into one of Chuck & Don’s 18 locations, they will donate one pound of pet food to charity, no purchase required. If you bring your four-legged friend, they’ll donate two pounds. Guests will also be treated to coffee and donuts.
John Imholte, Chuck & Don’s Minnesota district manager, said they wanted to provide customers with a different type of door buster deal.
“We thought it would be nice to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving rather than the Black Friday retail craziness,” he said. “While we still have great deals and sales in the store, Chuck & Don’s made a conscious decision to take the busiest shopping day of the year and make it about giving back to our community.”
Last year marked the first Grateful & Giving Back event and there was no shortage of furry friends. From 7 to 9 a.m., 176 pets visited their stores along with 504 happy pet owners.
“In total we donated 856 pounds of pet food to Second Harvest Heartland and 100 pounds of pet food to the Red Wing Area Food Shelf,” Imholte said.
The Minnesota-based pet food store also had two locations (currently five) open in Colorado for last year’s event, and they were able to donate 100 pounds of pet food to the Food Bank of the Rockies.
This year, Chuck & Don’s will be donating pet food to Second Harvest Heartland and Red Wing Area Food Shelf again.
“We chose those organizations that support the communities in which we operate our stores and who have clients who can benefit from the donations,” Imholte said.
This year Chuck & Don’s hopes to double last year’s donations while celebrating the true meaning of Thanksgiving with people and pets alike.
“We’d like to offer our customers a place they can bring their best friend, their pet, to enjoy a safe haven from an otherwise hectic day of shopping.”
