Those who frequent Lakewinds in Minnetonka have most likely met employee Teri Lynn Schons. But what you may not know is Schons recently co-authored her first novel, My Secret Husband, under her pen name Angelina de Mourier along with John du Prey, also known as Wayne Olson.
Their steamy romance novel, reminiscent of a Romeo-and-Juliet-type romance, tells the tale of star-crossed lovers Angelina and John living in 18th century France. In the book, Olson’s masculine, action-oriented scenes are delicately interwoven with Schons’s “romantic elegance.” Aristocrat Angelina may not be 100 percent based on Schons’s life, but “her feelings and experiences are mine,” says Schons.
Strangers until the two met in 2008 at Lakewinds, Schons says she noticed Olson had a striking presence about him. Olson disappeared for a while as he recovered from heart surgery, but an unaware Schons admits she imagined he was off saving a damsel in distress.
Fast forward a few years and Olson was looking for a female voice to counter his in a poetry collective and eventually a novel. A fan of and inspired by Olson’s work, Schons jumped at the chance—and the rest, as they say, is history.
