For December I’ve chosen some great sparkling wines—something a bit different than the norm. Cantina di Carpi in Emilia Romagna, Italy, is making quality sparkling wines at awesome prices, so you can celebrate on a work night.
My favorites are the Via Emilia Brut, which is very similar to a prosecco with a bit more guts, like a good brut cremant, and almost as rich as a champagne. The sister wine, Piazza Grande, is a brut Lambrusco that drinks like a rich, very dry rosé. This is nowhere near the sweet Lambrusco you might be thinking of. It has great aromatics, brut style, and a rich pink color.
