For August, I’ve picked a stellar Oregon chardonnay. In recent years, Oregon has really been trying to prove that they can be known for things other than just world-class pinot noir. Their chardonnay is no exception.
The Willamette Valley in Oregon and France’s Burgundy region share the same latitude, giving them similar cool climate conditions. This gives them the capability to grow great chardonnay. La Crema’s 2015 example is amazing.
This chardonnay is sourced from vineyards in the Yamhill-Carlton district of Willamette Valley. It’s creamy, smooth and elegant with only hints of oak. Enjoy it now or age it. $28.99.
