Have Yourself an Artsy Little Christmas

Minnetonka Center for the Arts hosts a holiday bazaar.

During the holiday season, the Minnetonka Center for the Arts transforms into a haven for crafts and gifts. With more than 100 local artists featured in its Arts of the Holiday show, the center is a perfect place to find one-of-a-kind gifts from the carefully edited collection. The items and artists are selected for the show based on “value and character,” says marketing and communications director Gregory Collins. Ceramic cutlery, sculptures, paintings, photography, printed cards and posters, jewelry, woodwork and fiber arts will all be featured. In contrast to the frantic ambiance of most shopping malls at this time of year, Collins hopes that “we are able to provide a calm space to shop in a very hectic season.”

The Minnetonka Center for the Arts also hosts workshops for all ages and skill levels during December. A DIY glass holiday ornaments workshop is a great opportunity to experiment with blown glass and mosaics. An instructor will fire your design in a kiln, which will be pick-up ready two to three weeks after the class. If pumping a pottery wheel is more your style, don’t miss the holiday bowl party. Everyone from first-timers to experts is invited to create their own thrown work. Classes are kept small to ensure a great experience, so be sure to register soon.
