Mound resident Laura Lloyd opened Our Place Boutique and Bakery in November 2015. It’s a space that celebrates local makers and their hand-crafted products.
The bakery is a set up on a weekly pre-order system: Customers place their orders for tasty treats on Thursday, and pick up a box (or several) on Saturday; extra baked goods will be sold as available on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
The boutique features a variety of Minnesota-made and -grown products from more than 14 vendors. There’s a farmer who brings in jams and jellies, and a woman who crafts candles. Lloyd also sells her homemade dog treats. “It’s a nice little variety. It kind of turned into a little gift boutique,” says Lloyd.
Lloyd says that some hot sellers have been the school-spirit wear and hand-crafted doll cradles and toy trains made by local woodworkers. “[Customers] really embrace the fact that all of the stuff is made local,” says Lloyd. “They really are enjoying the fact that everything is handmade.”
And if you can’t make it to the store during business hours, you can order your favorite artisan items on the website or Facebook page.
