A Tasty Tradition

Regina’s Candies offers a sweet escape for Saint Paul residents.

Since 1926, Regina’s Fine Candies has been a haven for Saint Paul residents with a sweet tooth. Founded by Greek immigrant Frank Elliott, the store has been passed down through the family to his grandson and current owner, Mark Elliott.

Their slogan, “A Family Tradition Since 1926,” rings true for all aspects of the store. Elliott says he and his six siblings all worked at the store at one point or another. “We still use the same recipes and quality ingredients that our grandfather used,” Elliott says.

Over the years, Elliott says they’ve had a few stand-out customers. “I can recall a gentleman requesting a special 6-foot candy cane,” he says. “Funny thing was, he arrived in a Volkswagen to pick it up. It was quite the challenge to get it in his car.”

When it comes to holiday gift options, Elliott says their most popular items are peanut brittle, coconut brittle, English toffee and, most recently, sea salt caramels.
