The General Store of Minnetonka takes “retail therapy” very seriously. Every Thursday night, they hold Girls’ Night Out, or GNO. Between 5 and 8 p.m., customers can enjoy half-price wine, as well as food like flatbread, soup and salad (all at regular price) at the General Store Cafe and Bistro. They are then invited to browse the store and shop.
The event began in late 2014 during the busy holiday season as a way for women to get their shopping done in a more enjoyable, less hectic fashion. Today it continues as a weekly event for those looking to shop, socialize and indulge in their favorite food and drink. Jenny Putnam, the General Store’s clothing and accessories buyer, says the customers love the peaceful environment and social aspect of GNO. While dinner and wine is only served until 8, shoppers can stay and shop until the store closes at 9 p.m.
