St. Paul Academy Senior Dalante Peyton Embraces Life On and Off the Basketball Court

As a shooting guard for the varsity basketball team at St. Paul Academy, as well as a member of the Fury Wilde traveling basketball team, Dalante Peyton is definitely at home on the court. But for Dalante, home is also found in his mission trip travels to El Salvador and in the loving life his mother, Pam Peyton, has built for him:

On his favorite class:

My favorite class is Spanish. I want to learn the language fluently so when I travel,
I will better be able to touch people’s lives in another country.

On the most influential person in his life:

When I was very young, I was adopted. My mom has raised me by herself and taught me everything I know. The care and love she has given me can’t be put into words; she is truly a blessing.

On his most memorable moment at SPA so far:

[As a peer helper during junior year], I learned so much about my peers and how many different perspectives mean not every situation is going to be looked at in the same light. We discussed simple things like how to treat each other. All the things I learned on that retreat are as valuable as anything I have learned in the classroom or on the court.

On what Dalante hopes to be doing in 10 years:

I want to teach young kids and help out in troubled African-American communities.

Three words Dalante would use to describe himself:

Observant, caring and passionate.
