Minnetonka Theatre presents Brigadoon

Minnetonka Theatre presents Brigadoon, a classic golden-age musical.

"If you love someone deeply enough, anything is possible. Even miracles.” So says Mr. Lundie in the musical Brigadoon, a classic piece of theater centered on the importance of love, miracles and living each day to the fullest—and the latest production from high school students at Minnetonka Theatre. “I think it’s one of the most underrated and beautiful, golden-age Broadway scores,” says Trent Boyum, the show’s artistic director.

It’s a heartwarming story about sacrifice and love, but its importance in the history of musical theater extends beyond its charm, score and dance numbers. Brigadoon was also the first real Broadway hit written by Lerner and Loewe, the duo behind famous shows like Camelot and My Fair Lady

And it certainly won’t be a walk in the park for the young actors. Boyum estimates that about 40 percent of the show is dancing, including Scottish sword dancing, traditional jigs, reels and classical ballet, thanks to the choreography talents of Jenny Crist.
