Minnesota Kids Race to the Minnetonka Youth Triathlon

The Minnetonka Youth Triathlon returns for its 11th year.

Nothing makes you want to get outside quite like the arrival of spring—and, as always, Minnetonka kids know how to celebrate. For the 11th year in a row, more than 150 kids from second to eighth grade will take to the streets for the Minnetonka Youth Triathlon. Young athletes begin with the swimming event, held in the recently renovated pool at Minnetonka Middle School East, then run and bike through the surrounding neighborhoods. “There’s a community feel to it,” says Tim Liftin, executive director at Minnetonka Community Education. “You’re in the streets, not around the track.”

Best of all, every participant gets a free wicking shirt and swim cap for completing the race. “It’s a heck of a good event,” says Liftin, “with lots of treats and prizes waiting for you.”
