Johnny Range is on a mission to make sure Lake Minnetonka is stocked with walleye. Range heads the Westonka Walleye Program to counteract the dwindling walleye population by purchasing fish from farms and placing them in the lake. The goal of the organization is to stock the lake with 8”-13” yearling walleye; 100 percent of the funds raised are used to meet that need.
On April 24, the Westonka Walleye Program will hold its first annual fundraising banquet at Lord Fletcher’s from 6–9 p.m. to raise money for the program. Admission is $10. Raffle and silent auction items will include gift baskets, an autographed jersey from former Viking Jim Kleinsasser, a $650 feather rod and reel combo donated by DH Custom Rods and Tackle, a 3-person guided Lake Minnetonka walleye trip with Rory Nelson donated by Wayzata Bait and Tackle and other items perfect for the outdoor enthusiast.
Donations to the program can be made through 472fish.com or by mail to Westonka Walleye Program, 2039 Arbor Lane, Mound, 55364
