Neighbors in the Cove

Land on Halstead Bay opens to development.

The lakefront land along Halstead Bay will be the home of a brand-new neighborhood: The Cove on Lake Minnetonka.

The late business magnate Curt Carlson originally purchased the land in the 1960s to create a retreat for his family. His heirs eventually sold the land, which is now available for public development. “You’re not going to ever find a project like this on the lake,” explains developer Paul Robinson. “It’s the last big piece of land [along the lake] that could be developed into neighborhoods.”

A high-end neighborhood in the Woodland Cove development, The Cove on Lake Minnetonka currently consists of 25 home sites and will eventually include 85. Residents are members of the Woodland Cove Master Association. “It has 12 miles of trails and sidewalks within the neighborhood that link it into both Lake Minnetonka Regional Park and Carver Park Reserve,” says Robinson. Members also have access to 150 acres of protected natural space and to a neighborhood clubhouse and swimming pool.
